The dilemma of having to choose between two different roads of life brings with it the fear of making the wrong decision. Ideally, Mark is able to avoid “the choice” because at the fork in the road, he has the chance to face both. The two pathways that the young Mark begins to explore are relived with the experiences, both sad and successful, of his past. Experiences that, in the end, lead to the awareness that “the choice” is never final and the people we encounter along any of life’s roads are worth meeting.

  • When facing the difficult decision of which road to choose in life, what would happen if you didn’t have to choose, but you could travel both roads simultaneously without sacrificing one for the other? “The Choice” by Mark Curl explores this possibility. It recounts the life of a young man as two parallel lives, each pursuing a different dream. This sort of “Sliding Doors” story is moving. Tears came to my eyes in various parts of the story and I felt that I, too, had met the people that Mark Curl encounters along his way. The down to earth (Italian) family values are well rooted in the life of Mark Curl, making his story heartwarming and refreshing. The story reminds of the saying “Happiness is a journey and not the destination”, because it is not the final objective, or destination, that completely fulfills us, but the people we meet along the way and time shared together during our journey.
